THOMASVILLE, GAÂ |Â Â After securing victories in the first two games of the series, the Night Hawks aimed to maintain their momentum and complete the conference series sweep in game three.
Â
On Saturday afternoon, the Night Hawks celebrated
Easton Willis,
Bryce Bitting,
Kason Buie,
Brad Peacock, and
Mike Convery for Senior Day 2024. These players have not only made a huge impact on the 2024 season, but for the four years we have had them present to be Night Hawks! So, THANK YOU SENIORS.
Â
In the top of the first inning, Mobile took an early lead with a two-run home run, putting the Rams ahead 2-0. They continued their momentum into the second inning, adding three more runs with a big two-out triple to extend their lead to 5-0.
Â
The Night Hawks cut into the lead in the bottom of the second inning with a big three-run rally. It started with
Mike Sowers reaching first on an error, followed by
Easton Willis's double down the right field line to score Sowers and make it 5-1. Brayton Lawhon's single to center field brought in Willis to make it 5-2.
Hunter Kern, pinch-running for Willis, stole second base and scored on
Turner Maddox's two-out single to left field, bringing the score to 5-3. TU tied the game in the bottom of the third inning with back-to-back home runs from
Bryce Bitting and
Gabe Tafelski, making it 5-5.
Â
In the top of the fourth inning, the Rams regained the lead with a run scored on a wild pitch, making it 6-5. They extended their lead in the top of the seventh with a RBI single, bringing the score to 7-5. The Night Hawks rallied in the bottom of the seventh with back-to-back two-out home runs from
Max Pickert and
JT Whatley, tying the game at 7-7.
Â
TU loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth inning with one out, but the Rams worked out of the jam with two fly outs to take the game into extra innings. The Night Hawks started the tenth inning off with a single from
Easton Willis to put the winning run on first,
Cameron Rosario hit a sacrifice bunt to the first baseman to move Willis into scoring position at second base,
Jean Pool Checo came into the game to pinch hit for
Luis Torres and, after a mound visit by the pitcher and catcher, Checo launched a first-pitch fastball deep into the trees in left field for a walk-off home run to win the game 9-7 on Senior Day.

Note from the author:
Personally, I would like to thank the Thomas University Baseball Team for an amazing experience this season. Between walk-off wins, amazing hits, and a amazing fan base this has been an amazing experience. It's always amazing the see the fans get into the game, the players to stay competitive, and the conference wins get sweeter with each one achieved.
