Columbus, GA | Individuals from the Night Hawks Men's and Women's swimming team are in Columbus, GA this week to compete in the NAIA National Swimming and Diving Meet. Six men and two women will represent Thomas at the meet.
For the Men,
Diego Alonso,
Imme Bousema, Time Brown,
Ethan Kilgore,
Jofre Mataro, and
Emil Schildhauer will compete.
Aspen Shipp and
Anna Van De Keere will swim for the women.
Alonso will compete in the 50 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke. He will also swim in the 200 freestyle relay.
Bousema will swim in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breastroke. He will also swim the 800 freestyle relay. Bousema's 200 breaststroke time of 2:05.65 is currently 14th nationally.
Brown is set to swim the 50 freestyle, 100 backstroke, and 100 freestyle. Brown will be a part of the 200 and 400 medley relays, in addition to the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. Tim currently ranks 5th in the 50 freestyle (20.04 and 14th in the 100 backstroke (50.73).
Kilgore will swim the 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, and 200 butterfly. Kilgore will every relay that is entered by Thomas: 200 medley, 400 medley, 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle, and 800 freestyle.
Mataro is set to swim the 200 individual medley, 100 backstroke, and 200 backstroke. Mataro will also swim in every relay event that Thomas has entered: 200 medley, 400 medley, 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle, and 800 freestyle. Mataro is ranked 13th in the 100 and 200 backstroke (50.48/1:51.48) and 14th in the 200 individual medley 91:52.14).
Schildhauer will compete in the 200 individual medley, 100 breaststroke, and 200 breaststroke. Schildhauer will compete on the 200 and 400 medley relays, and the 800 freestyle relay. Schildhauer rank 6th in both the 100 bbreaststroke and 200 breaststroke (55.11/2:02.20) and 11th in the 200 individual medley (1:51.90).
Shipp will swim in the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke, and 200 backstroke. Sipp currently ranks 9th in the 100 backstroke (58.02), 7th in the 200 backstroke (2;05.21), and 4th in the 100 butterfly (56.59).
Van De Kerre will compete in the 500 freestyle, 400 individual medley, and 1650 freestyle. Van De Kerre is 15th in the 500 freestyle (5:11.64) and10th in the 1650 freestyle (17:57.30).
The championship will be held in Columbus, Ga. at the Columbus Aquatic Center on March 6-9. For the Men, There are 24 schools represented in this year's meet and 141 individual entries qualified for the 2024 NAIA Men's Swimming and Diving National Championships. For the Women, there are 28 schools represented in this year's meet and 164 individual entries qualified for the 2024 NAIA Women's Swimming and Diving National Championships.
