Thomas Drops Doubleheader to Point

WEST POINT, GA |  The Thomas Night Hawks traveled to take on in-state rival, Point, this weekend for a three-game series.  On Saturday, Thomas would drop both games of the double header.

POINT 5, THOMAS 2

Point got on the scoreboard first, by scoring two runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning,  The first run can via a Thomas error.  Runs two and three were scored on a Point RBI double, that increased the score to 3-0.  in the 3rd inning, Point would manufacture a run, without the ball leaving the infield.  A walk, stolen base, wild pitch, and an infield hit would lead to the fourth Skyhawks run on the day.

Thomas would finally get on the scoreboard in the 4th inning.  Turner Maddox would double to right field, with one out.  With two out, Max Pickert would advance Maddox to 3rd base, with a single to right field.  Mike Sowers would then get an infield single to score Maddox, to cut the deficit to 4-1.

Point would answer int he 5th inning when a walk, sacrifice bunt, passed ball and an RBI single to left field would bring home the Skyhawks fifth run.  

The Night Hawks final run would cross in the 6th inning.  Maddox would once again reach base with one out, via a single to right field, this time.  Bryce Bitting would advance Maddox to 3rd base with a single.  Max Pickert would collect the RBI, via a single, to plate Maddox.  Thomas would fall to Point, 5-2, in game one.

POINT 4, THOMAS 1

Through four innings, in this contest, neither team would be able to string together a series of hits to produce a run.  Thomas would finally break through in the top of the 5th inning, with a two-out rally.  JT Whatley would get a two-out single to center field.  Gabe Tafelski  would send a shot over the centerfielder's head, to score Whatley on the RBI double.  

In the bottom of the 7th inning, a walk and a single would set up a sacrifice situation.  A perfect bunt, would lead to the Skyhawks having a bases-loaded situation.  Point would send a shot down the right field line, that the Night Hawks thought was foul, leading to two runs for the Skyhawks.  A subsequent double, on the next at bat, would plate two additional runs for the Skyhawks.  Point would walk away with the victory, 4-1.
