Night Hawks Fall to Rams

Night Hawks Fall to Rams

Mobile, AL | The Thomas University Softball Team faced the Rams of #13 University of Mobile in a SSAC doubleheader matchup on Thursday afternoon.

 

Game One

The first contest would remain scoreless through three innings. In the bottom of the third, the Rams would strike first. In the inning, they would plate one run on three hits and one Night Hawk error.

 

Trailing 1-0, Jaelynn Vialpando would provide the response for the Night Hawks. In the top of the fourth inning, a Vialpando RBI single would allow Ansley Eason, who reached via a triple, to cross the plate. 

 

The Rams would then produce a large bottom of the fifth inning to regain possession of the lead. In the inning, the Rams would add four runs to their total. In the following inning, they would plate one additional run to further increase their advantage, 6-1.

 

The Night Hawks would not recover and would drop game one, 6-1.

 

Game Two

Similarly to game one of the series, game two would remain scoreless through three innings of play. However, this time the Night Hawks would strike first.

 

In the top of fourth inning, Kennedy Hardy would send a solo homerun over the center field fence to give the Night Hawks a one run advantage.

 

However, in the following inning, the Rams would respond by plating two runs on two hits. 

 

Despite several scoring opportunities in the following innings of play, the Night Hawks would leave four base runners stranded and fail to produce a run. The Rams would take game two, 2-1.

 

Next Up

The Night Hawks will be back in action on March, 29th to take on the Tigers of Stillman College. The SSAC matchup will feature a doubleheader beginning at 12 PM at Armory Field.
