Thomasville, GA- The Thomas University (5-18, 3-11) women's basketball team hosted Life University (18-5, 11-4) on Saturday afterrnoon.
In the first quarter of play, the Night Hawks would showcase efficiency. They would shoot 47% from the field and 50% from three, while holding the Running Eagles to just 36% from the field. At the end of the period, Thomas would hold a 19-15 lead over the Running Eagles.
In the second quarter though, the Night Hawks would score their lowest of any quarter on the day. This would allow the Running Eagles to take the lead of the contest, 33-28, heading into the break.
Coming out of the half, the Running Eagles would execute defensively to force eight Night Hawk turnovers. Despite these turnovers, Thomas would produce 17 points in the quarter and shoot 47% from the field. At the end of three quarters of play, Thomas would trail the Running Eagles, 45-53.
In the final period of action, the Night Hawks would shoot 31% from the field to produce 13 points. Unfortunately, this would not be enough. The Night Hawks would decrease the deficit to 5 points with 6 minutes remaining in regulation, but this would prove to be the closest they would come to securing a victory. The final score would favor Life University, 70-58.
Jade Studamire produced 18 points and connected on 4 three's. Dejah Wilson recorded 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Ryann Woodley recorded 13 points and 7 rebounds.
NEXT UP: The Night Hawks will be back in action on February, 8th as they travel to Tuscaloosa, AL to take on another SSAC opponent, Stillman College. Tip-off is set for 6:30 PM.
