Tuscaloosa, Alabama | The Thomas University Women's Basketball Team (5-19, 3-13 SSAC) was defeated by the Tigers of Stillman College (14-9, 8-7 SSAC) on Thursday evening.
In the first quarter of play, Stillman would outscore the Night Hawks 21-14. Throughout the period, the Night Hawks would shoot 41% from the field.
The second period of play would be all Stillman. The Night Hawks would produce one point in the quarter, while allowing the Tigers to score 21 points. The Night Hawks would face a steep 27-point deficit heading into the break, 15-42.
In their first possession of the third quarter, Ta'Nija Watson would drain a three to give the Night Hawks a brief sign of life. However, Stillman would continuously provide a response from there. This quarter would prove to be Thomas' best offensive quarter of the contest. The Night Hawks would produce 16 points in the period, but would also give up 19 points to the Tigers.
In the final quarter of play, the Tigers would outscore the Night Hawks 14-8. Ultimately, the deficit built in the second period would be far too great to overcome for the Night Hawks. Stillman would collect the victory, 75-39.
Ryan Woodley would record 10 points and 5 rebounds. Dejah Wilson and Jasmyn Studamire would each supply 6 points. Wilson would lead all Night Hawks in rebounds by grabbing 8.
NEXT UP: The Night Hawks will be back in action on February, 10th to take on Blue Mountain Christian University. Tip-off is set for 1:00 PM in Blue Mountain, Mississippi.
