Night Hawks Suffer Sweep at Home

Night Hawks Suffer Sweep at Home

Thomasville, GA | The Thomas University Softball Team (5-9, 0-0 SSAC) hosted the Eagles of #21 Reinhardt University (7-3, 2-0) in doubleheader action on Saturday afternoon. In both contests, the Night Hawks would be plagued by stagnant offensive production.

Game One

The contest would remain scoreless until the top of the third inning when the Eagles would plate one unearned run on one hit and one Night Hawk error.

From there, Amber Griffin would continue to showcase a dominant performance in the circle for the Night Hawks. Griffin would allow just one earned run in 6.2 innings of work, while allowing just two walks and tallying three strikeouts.

However, the Night Hawks would fail to plate a run and would leave six base runners stranded in the contest.

Reinhardt would go on to plate four insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning, allowing them to take a 5-0 victory in the first game of the series.

The Night Hawks would total four hits in the contest.

Game Two

Reinhardt would strike first in the top of the first inning. In the inning, the Eagles would plate two runs on one hit and one Night Hawk error. Later, in the top of the third inning, they would add three additional runs on four hits to lead the Night Hawks 5-0.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Night Hawks would ignite a spark. Hailie Stewart would kickstart the inning with a single and would steal second to place herself in scoring position. With Stewart on second base, Averie Sheppard would single to right field allowing Stewart to cross the plate. This would cut the deficit to four runs, 5-1.

Neither team would plate any additional runs for the remainder of the contest. The Eagles would leave the Rose City with two victories.

The Night Hawks would total four hits in the contest.
