NEW ORLEANS, LA | The Night Hawks (9-5, 0-3 SSAC) traveled to the Cresent City and came away winless versus the (RV) Loyola Wolfpack (9-0, 3-0 SSAC). With the losses, the Night Hawks currently possess a five game losing streak.
GAME ONE (THURSDAY)
The Wolfpack jumped on the Night Hawks early, scoring two runs in the 1st inning and two additional runs in the 2nd inning. Loyola would put up an additional three runs in the 4th inning before the Night Hawks were able to score their lone run, in the contest. Matt Williams would lead off the 5th inning with a single.
Riley Borgert would sacrifice bunt Williams to 2nd base.
Brayden Lawhon would knock a double to left-center field to score the run.
Loyola would add an additional three runs int he bottom half of the inning and a final run in the 7th inning to bring the final score to 11-1.
The Night Hawks would only be able to muster three hits in the game.
Chase Marsh suffered the loss for the Night Hawks.
GAME TWO (FRIDAY)
The Night Hawk bats woke up for game two, but unfortunately, the Wolfpack bats remained hot, as Thomas fell to Loyola in the early contest on Friday. Thomas opened up the scoring in this game, in the 2nd inning.
Max Pickert would lead off the inning with a single to right field.
Luis Torres would follow up with a single to center field. After the runners failed to advance during the next two at bats,
Michael Sowers would gain the RBI with a single to left field, scoring Pickert, to make the score 1-0. Thomas would yield five runs in the bottom of the inning, leaving the score at 5-1 after the 2nd inning.
Thomas would score two runs in the 3rd inning and one run in the 4th inning, to keep the score close. In the 3rd,
Kason Buie would lead off the inning with a solo homerun.
Turner Maddox would follow that up with a single, and eventually score on a
Hunter Kern single to right field, with two outs. In the 4th,
Michael Sowers would double, to lead off the inning. Buie would drive him in with a single to center field. After four innings, Thomas would trail, 5-4.
Loyola would score seven runs in the 5th inning to expend their lead. Thomas would attempt a comeback in the 7th inning, by plating three runs. Picket, Torres, and Kern would score in the inning, but the effort was not enough, and the Night Hawks fell, 12-7, to the Wolfpack.
AJ Wydra suffered his first loss of the season, in the defeat.
GAME THREE (FRIDAY)
The series concluded Friday afternoon, with Thomas losing 5-2 to Loyola. Both of the Thomas runs were scored in the 3rd inning.
Turner Maddox would lead off the inning with a single.
Riley Borgert would follow up, with a single up the middle.
Kason Buie would groud out to 3rd base, scoring Maddox.
Trey Larkin would knock a double to left center field, scoring Bogert and giving the Night Hawks a 2-0.
Thomas would lose the lead by yielding five runs int he 6th inning. The Night Hawks would be swept in the series.
Brandon Steele would suffer his first loss on the season.
