Albany, GA - On Wednesday night, Thomas University traveled to Albany State University to face the NCAA Division II HBCU, Golden Rams (4 - 2) in a non-conference match-up. The Night Hawks came into the contest with a (9 - 5) record following five straight losses on the road.
The Night Hawks would strike early in the first inning after
JT Whatley launched a 2-RBI home run over the left centerfield wall,
Michael Sowers would add onto the lead after a RBI Single that would extend the TU lead to 3-0 after one inning.
In the top of the second, TU continued to add runs after
JT Whatley grounded into a fielder's choice to plate a run, and two RBI singles from
Max Pickert and
Turner Maddox would bring the Night Hawks lead to 6-0 after two innings of work.
Thomas added another run in the top of the third after a bases loaded walk from
Elias Garcia, to extend the Night Hawks lead to 7-0. The Rams would get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third after a sacrifice fly would plate one run, and a two RBI single would cut the TU lead to 7-3.
The Night Hawks would take a commanding lead in the top of the fifth, after the seven run inning would start with a bases loaded two RBI single from Garcia, followed by a bases loaded two RBI double from Pickert, a two RBI single from Maddox, and finally a sacrifice fly from Sowers helped secure the TU victory, 14-3.

Eddie Camolilla got the win for the Night Hawks while pitching 2.0 innings allowing two walks, three runs, and one strikeout. Sophomore
Elias Garcia went 3-for-4 on the night with two RBI singles, and a walk that drove in a run. Junior
Turner Maddox went 3-for-4 on the night with an RBI single in the second inning, and a two RBI single in the fifth inning. Sophomore
Max Pickert went 3-for-4 on the night with an RBI single in the second inning and a two RBI double in the fifth inning.
Thomas will return to Varnedoe Stadium for a three game series against another HBCU, conference foe Stillman. The two will face off in a doubleheader on Friday, with the action beginning at noon.
