Night Hawks Take On The Sun Conference Championship

COLUMBUS, GA | The Night Hawks compete in a three-day swimming event in Columbus GA. The Night Hawks finished in the expected position, for both teams.  The Men finished the meet in fourth place and the women competed the meet in sixth place. 

DAY ONE (THURSDAY)

Women

Nissrine Bourbouh, Anna Van De Keere, Aspen Shipp, and Lucia Roca swam the 200 Yd. Medley Relay. Finishing with a time of 1:51.33. With a place of 7th out of 21, allowing the Lady Night Hawks to gain 28 points. 
 
Aspen Shipp had an impressive day. She swam in the 50 Yd Freestyle placing 4th, gaining 15 more points for her team and ending with a team record with a finals time of 23.87.
 
The women also placed 4th in the 800 Yd. Freestyle Relay, gaining 34 additional points for their team.   At the end of day one, out of three, the women are placed 7th with a score of 77.

Men

Their relay teams did great, placing fourth for the 200 Yd. Medley Relay and gained 34 points for their team, and also 5th overall in the 800 YD Freestyle with a time of 6:58.59.
 
Jofre Mataro swam in the 200 Yd. IM and placed 6th overall with a time of 1:52.14. Emil Schildhauer had an impressive time of 1:51.90 causing him to be first in the B final and ninth overall and set a team record!  Tim Brown placed 5th overall in the Men 50 YD Freestyle with a time of 20.04, giving the Night Hawks 14 additional points. 
 
The men end the day with a total of 122 points placing them at 4th overall.  

DAY TWO (FRIDAY)

Women

The women start Friday off by placing 6th overall in the Women 200 Yd. Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:41.27. Their 400 YD Medley Relay team placed 7th overall adding an additional 28 points to the board. 
 
Freshman Anna Van DeKeere has been having some impressive results for the Night Hawks, this weekend, as she swam the Women 400 Yd IM and placed 7th with a time of 4:42.12. She was the only freshman in the A finals for this event. 
 
Sophomore Aspen Shipp had a phenomenal race in the Women 100 YD butterfly as she placed 2nd overall with a time of 56.59, gaining an extra 17 points for her team.

As day two ends, the women are placed at seventh, with a total of 172 points.

Men

For the men, they placed fifth in the 200 Yd Freestyle relay with a time of 1:24.29. The freshmen for Thomas University's swim team have been showing out for the Night Hawks.  Freshman Emil Schildhauer had an impressive 4th place finish in the 100 Yd. Breaststroke with a time of 55.11.  Freshman Jofre Mataro had an 8th place finish in the 100 Yd. backstroke with a finals time of 50.48. And gaining an extra 11 points for his team.
 
Both freshmen competed in the 400 Yd. Medley relay with Junior Ethan Kilgore and Sophomore Tim Brown. Thomas University secured a 4th place spot for this relay and had a time of 3:23.59.
 
As the day comes to an end for the men, they are sitting at 4th place with a total of 248 points. 

DAY THREE (SATURDAY)

Women

Aspen Shipp starts the day off with a 3rd place finish with a time of 2:06.39 in the 200 Yd Backstroke. Their relay team consisting of Shipp, Roca, Autry, and Van DeKeere competed in the 400 Yd Freestyle Relay and placed 6th overall with a time of 3:41.60.
 
Freshman Anna DeKeere swam the 200 YD Breastroke and came 1st in the B Final and got 9th overall with a time of 2:28.68.
 
As the day closes out for the women, they end the meet with a total score of 245 points placing 6th overall.

Men

Once again the freshman class had done a phenomenal job on day three.  Freshman Hayden Roberts placed 10th overall in the 1650 Yd. Freestyle with a finals time of 17:18.41.  Freshman Jofre Mataro swam in the 200 Yd. backstroke with a 5th place finish and a time of 1:51.48.  Freshman Emil Schildhauer swam the 200 Yd. Breaststroke with a time of 2:02.20 giving him a second-place tie with a swimmer from Keiser University. 
 
Mataro, Schildhauer, Brown, and Kilgore consisted of the 400 Yd. Freestyle Relay team, they ended with a time of 3:06.57, giving the Night Hawks a 5th place finish for their last event.
 
The men finishing with a total of 357 points and a placement of 4th out of 9 teams.
