Thomas Stunned by Knights

Cochran, Ga- The Thomas University (5-17, 3-11) women's basketball team traveled to take on Middle Georgia State University (4-13, 2-10) on Wednesday night. 

Thomas would begin the contest by going on an early 10-2 run, led by Destiny Hill who would produce 6 of the team's points. The Knights would then capitalize on a couple of baskets of their own before the quarter ended. Thomas would lead 17-11 heading into the second quarter. 

In the second quarter of action, both teams would display scoring ability. Thomas would produce 19 points, while Miggle Georgia would score 20 points. The Night Hawks would shoot an efficient 53% from the field, 50% from the three, and 100% from the free throw line. The Night Hawks would head into the locker room holding a five point advantage, 36-31, over the Knights. 

The third quarter would closely resemble the second period of play. However, this time the Knights would outscore the Night Hawks 19-18. In the quarter, Thomas would shoot 44% from the field, but would also allow the Knights to shoot 40% from the field and 33% from behind the arc. 

Heading into the final period of play, Thomas would hold a 4 point lead over the Knights. The first 6 minutes of the quarter would be all Night Hawks, as their lead would grow to 10 points. The Knights would then respond with a 10-0 run of their own in the next 2 minutes of play, to even the score. With 27 seconds left, the Night Hawks would have a chance to take the lead and victory, but would turn the ball over with 4 seconds remaining in regulation. Unfortunately, the Knights would take full advantage of this opportunity and get fouled with .4 seconds left on the game clock. This foul would allow the Knights to seal the victory from the charity stripe. The Night Hawks would fall 68-71 to the Knights. 

Jade Studamire would score 18 points and grab 7 rebounds. Ta'Nija Watson scored 13 points and dished out 5 assists. Dejah Wilson scored 11 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and picked up 3 steals. 

NEXT UP: The Night Hawks will be back in action on February, 3rd to take on another SSAC opponent, Life University. Tip-off is set for 12 PM in Thomasville, Ga.
