MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the SSAC Women's Basketball Players of the Week, presented by WinWon. Kennedy Collins of Thomas (Ga.) was named SSAC Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week and Deniya Thornton of Loyola (La.) was named SSAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.
 
The awards are based on performance for the week of Dec. 2-8.
 
Kennedy Collins (Thomas – SR – F – Atlanta, Ga.)

• This is her first-career weekly honor
• In a 1-1 week, Collins averaged 23 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 56% overall and 52% from 3-point range
• She scored 20+ points in both games, including 24 points, 11 rebounds and three assists in a win over Morris

 
Deniya Thornton (Loyola – SO – G – New Roads, La.)

• This is her second weekly honor this season
• In a 3-0 week, Thornton averaged 6.0 defensive rebounds, 4.0 steals and 1.7 blocks per game
• She posted 13 rebounds, three steals and two blocks against Dillard and had highs of five steals and three blocks v. Texas A&M Texarkana
