MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – The Thomas University Men's and Women's track and field teams began their indoor season at the Barons Invitational hosted by Brewton-Parker College on Saturday morning.
Kyron Belton had a spectacular outing in the Men's 60 meters finishing first with a time of 6.98. Belton continued his good day in the Men's 200 meters placing second with a time of 22.19, only .7 seconds behind the leader.
Timothy Tulloch represented well in the Men's 600 meters as he came in second with a career best time of 1:28.81 in the 600.
Landon Watts and
Caden Godwin both competed in the Men's 800 meters, where both did well with Watts finishing fourth and Godwin finishing third. Godwin also ran in the Men's 1000 meters, where he placed fourth. Watts did well in the Men's mile event where he was second, marking a new career time in the event with 4:53.52.
Finally,
Nelson Lopez took part in the Men's shot put where he placed ninth. Overall, the men finished third among the competing teams.
On the Women's side, the Night Hawks did well,
Riley Rutledge ran in the 200 meters, finishing sixth, however she bounced back in the 600 meters as she finished second with a time of 1:56.67. As the women finished fourth among all teams in the meet.
Their next meet will be a three day meet at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational which runs from January 17
th to January 19
th.
