THOMASVILLE, Ga - Thomas put on a solid defensive performance, forcing 19 turnovers and 7 steals, but it was not enough to get past No.13 Loyola Wolfpack in an SSAC contest on Tuesday night at the TU Gym.
For the first 20 minutes, the Night Hawks kept the pressure on the Wolfpack, as they did not score until the six minute mark in the first quarter and after a free throw, Loyola took the lead and went on a 15-3 run to close out the quarter as the Wolfpack took a ten point lead into the second.Â
The second quarter was closely contested, starting with 9:41 to go, the Night Hawks ripped off a 15-7 run spearheaded by an
Aaliyah Ringold jumper. The scoring burst brought Thomas within two until a quick layup and a couple of makes from the stripe kickstarted the Loyola offense to go into the half with a cushioned lead.Â
In the second half, the offense fell silent as the Wolfpack took over and the Night Hawks could not catch up falling to No.13.
Â
Thomas outperformed Loyola at the stripe, shooting 57.7 percent to 54.5 percent with offensive rebounds they were just edged out by the Wolfpack 22-21.
Ringold put up 16 points, six rebounds and four assists, while
Destiny Hill had her third consecutive game with double digit rebounds finishing with 12, along with being a menace on the defensive side of the ball notching six steals and a block.
Tieraney Bolton also snagged ten boards as well as a couple of blocks. Finally,
Kennedy Collins got 11 points, five rebounds and two steals in her home debut.Â
Looking ahead, the Night Hawks will be back in action on the road against Southern University of New Orleans on Saturday, November 9 at 6:30pm EST.Â
