Thomasville, Ga- The Thomas University women's basketball team (3-12, 1-6) hosted the Stillman College Tigers (7-6, 3-4) on Thursday night in a SSAC matchup.
Stillman would begin the game by going on a 7-0 run. The Night Hawks would then answer with a run of their own. As the game progressed, both teams would begin trade baskets, but the Tigers would have the advantage, 14-9, at the end of the first quarter. In the second period, both teams would shoot under 30% from the field. However, Stillman would score 12 points, while Thomas would record 10. The Tigers would lead the Night Hawks 26-19 heading into the half.
The Tigers would begin the second half by producing a 8-2 run to further stretch their lead. Thomas would then answer with an 8-0 run of their own. At the end of the third, Thomas would trail 34-44. In the fourth, Thomas would put together their best scoring quarter of the game by producing 19 points. Ryann Woodley would provide the Night Hawks with momentum by scoring 13 points in the quarter. Throughout the final quarter of play, the Night Hawks would shoot 50% from the field, 50% from the three, and 80% from the free throw line. Despite Thomas' effort in the fourth quarter, the Tigers would remain in control of the game and come away with a 58-53 victory.
Ryann Woodley would lead all scorers with 17 points, while also grabbing 5 rebounds. Dejah Wilson would score 15 points, grab 6 rebounds, and pick up 4 steals. Ta'Nija Watson recorded 6 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists.
NEXT UP: The Night Hawks will take on Blue Mountain College in a SSAC matchup on January 6th at the TU Gymnasium. Tip off is set for 12 PM.
