Thomasville, GA | The Thomas University women's basketball team (5-17, 3-11 SSAC) fell to the Crusaders of William Carey University (13-3, 7-3 SSAC) on Saturday afternoon.
The Crusaders would begin play by going on a 8-2 run. Thomas would respond with a three pointer from the hands of Kennedy Collins to shorten the margin. However, William Carey would regain their composure and answer with a 10-2 run to lead the Night Hawks ,18-7, to begin the second quarter of action.
In the second period, Thomas would produce 13 points and limit the Crusaders to just 11. Destiny Hill would record 8 points in the quarter. Despite Hill's effort, Thomas would find themselves trailing by nine points, 20-29, heading into the half.
In the third quarter of play, William Carey would produce a game high 21 points, while grabbing 13 rebounds.Thomas would score 14 points, led by Ryann Woodley's 8 points in the quarter.
In the final period of play, Thomas would not gain possession of the lead. The Night Hawks would be outscored 16-18 in the final quarter, preventing them from producing a comeback effort. The Crusaders would take the victory, 68-50, back to Mississippi.
Destiny Hill would record 17 points and grab 5 rebounds. Ryann Woodley would score 15 points.
NEXT UP: The Night Hawks will be back in action on January, 31st to take on another SSAC opponent, Middle Georgia State University. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM in Cochran, Ga.
