Thomas Drops Contest to Faulkner

Montgomery, AL- The Thomas University women's basketball team  (4-13, 2-7)  traveled to take on Faulkner University (9-9, 5-3) in an SSAC conference matchup on Thursday night.

To begin the first quarter, Thomas would make a statement by producing an early 7-0 run to establish the lead. Faulkner would settle in shortly after and drain two quick three pointers to cut into this deficit. From there, each team seemed to find their offensive rhythm by capitalizing on several scoring opportunities. At the end of the first quarter, Faulkner would lead the Night Hawks 18-12. In the second period of play, the Night Hawks would shoot 42% from the field and 50% from behind the arc to produce 21 points, while their effort of defense would limit Faulkner to 18 points.

Entering the third quarter of play, Thomas would trail the Eagles by three, 33-36. Throughout the third period, Thomas would total 20 points, but would allow the Eagles to produce 22 points of their own. The Night Hawks would find themselves down by three points once again to begin the final period of play. In the fourth quarter, Thomas would shoot 43% from the field and 50% from the three to produce 24 points. Despite Thomas' shooting efficiency, the Eagles would score 27 points in the quarter and take a 85-77 victory.
