THOMASVILLE, GA - Thomas (5-4-1, 1-1-1 SSAC) picks up their first Southern States Conference win by defeating Dalton State (5-3-1, 2-2-0 SSAC), 4-0, at the TU Soccer Complex on Thursday.
The first half was a defensive battle, with neither team able to muster any offensive rhythm, despite Thomas taking eight shots, until the 44th minute of the match.
Kaitlyn Herb scored with :01 remaining in the half, set up by a corner kick from
Sasha Manders. The Night Hawks would go into the locker room with a 1-0 lead, but most importantly, momentum.
Manders was able to net the second goal for the Night Hawks in the 58th minute, off of an
Ali Baca assist. In the 72nd minute,
Pearl Mortimer would score the third goal of the day with the assistance of
Elsebeth Anderson. Herb scored her second goal of the day from a pass by
Jade Slaybaugh, in the 89th minute.
On the day, the Night Hawks took 23 shots, with 16 of them being on goal. Defensively, goalkeeper
Emily Lamoreaux only faced four shots, with all of them being on goal.
The Night Hawks will travel to Marietta, GA to face Life on Saturday, in their first road conference contest of the season. The match will kick off at 2PM.
