In the latest ranking by the NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches, the Thomas Night Hawks cracked the receiving votes line. In order to be listed in the receiving votes category, a team must receive more than one vote.
Thomas received three votes in the poll released on September 27th. Thomas, a new member of the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC), is one of six conference teams listed, either in the Top 25 or receiving votes. Other conference members listed are Dalton State (#2), William Carey (#7), Mobile (#11), Life (#18), and Faulkner (RV).
Thomas, thus far this season, has faced four teams that currently sit within the Top 25, earning draws against two of them (Mobile and Florida National). This week, the Night Hawks will face #2 Dalton State at home on Thursday, and then travel to Life for a Saturday afternoon match.
The road potentially gets easier for Thomas in the month of October. Of the eight matches during the month, only Faulkner (October 12, Thomasville, Ga.) is receiving votes. None of their other opponents are currently in the Top 25.
The last time that Thomas received votes in the Top 25 poll was the preseason poll in 2019.
