THOMASVILLE, GA- The Thomas University Men's Soccer team (3-2-2, 0-1-2) traveled to Hialeah, Florida to take on the 16th ranked Florida National University (6-1-1) in a non conference game Saturday evening.
Florida National University would strike first with a goal by Francisco Crimi eight minutes into the game. Both teams would take another shot in the 1st period but neither capitalized. The Conquistadors would go into the break with a 1-0 lead.Â
As they did in the first, the Conquistadors worked quickly and added another goal just three minutes into the 2nd period. However the Night Hawks would not be denied. At the 81st minute Diego Sanchez would add a goal of his own and get Thomas on the scoreboard. Shortly after, in the 87th minute, James Hall would find Aaron Sindhar who would even the score 2-2. As time ran out, the Conquistadors would try to take the lead with a header shot, but Jorge Gonzalez would ultimately record the save. The game would end in a 2-2 tie.Â
The Night Hawks finished the day with a total of six shots with two on goal and a total of one corner kick. The Conquistadors recorded ten total shots with six on goal and seven corner kicks. Thomas' Jorge Gonzalez would record four saves.
NEXT UP: The Night Hawks are set to get back into SSAC gameplay as they host Dalton State College September 28th. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00pm.
