Box Score THOMASVILLE, GA- The Thomas University Men's Soccer team began SSAC competition at home Thursday against 10th ranked William Carey.
The game had an early season playoff feel as both team's defenses would showcase a shutout heading into the half. Both teams would go into the break with a total of five shots a piece and two saves. Thomas took three corner kicks to the Crusaders zero.
The Crusaders would come out of the break and strike quickly with a goal in the 50th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Ten minutes later, Thomas would get an unlucky bounce off a header and allow Giovanni Soares to capitalize with a goal.
As time went by in the second half, Thomas had several opportunities to make a comeback. Between the 74th and 79th minute, Thomas tallied four shots with two on goal, but were unable to capitalize. This would be the last push for Thomas, who would ultimately fall to the Crusaders 2-0.
The Night Hawks finished the day with a total of ten shots with two on goal and a total of seven corner kicks. The Crusaders recorded eight total shots with four on goal and two corner kicks. Thomas' Jorge Gonzalez and the Crusaders' Andreas Kokoska both totaled two saves.
NEXT UP: The Night Hawks are set to play Saturday September 16th against University of Mobile. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30pm.
