THOMASVILLE, GA – The Thomas University Women's Soccer team continues their stellar performances on the pitch, marking their third consecutive shutout on the season against NCAA opponent Wesleyan College Friday afternoon with a 11-0 win.
Graduate Brittney Rankins started the Night Hawks (3-1-0, 0-0-0) off on the right note at the 20' minute mark with a goal of her own assisted by Sasha Manders. Thomas did not take long to find their way to the back of the net once again, as the defending SSAC Offensive player of the Week Freshman Kaitlyn Herb added a goal to the Night Hawks lead.
The Wolves (0-1-0, 0-0-0) could not find an answer for the Green and White as Sophomore Ali Baca continued the hot streak of goals that was assisted by Brittney Rankins to put the Night Hawks up 3-0.
Wesleyan College did not back down from the challenge by the Night Hawks as Goalie Angel Lockett notched a total of nine saves in the first half, but it was still not enough to stop the Green and White scoring festivities.
Freshman Pearl Mortimer took her chances in the net at the 37' minute mark with an assist by Ali Baca to raise the score for the Night Hawks. Nearly two minutes later Kaitlyn Herb added her second goal of the game for a solid 5-0 lead.
Freshman Katy Donaldson added a goal of her own as well, with just less than thirty seconds left remaining in the half Senior Jade Slaybaugh found her way into the net to cap off a solid 7-0 lead going into the locker room.
Ali Baca punched her statement maker entering the second half of the contest from an assist by Sophomore Madelyn Musgrove. The Green and White took advantage of shots, before Pearl Mortimer picked up her second goal of the game at the 67 minute mark with an assist by Madelyn Musgrove.
Before mother nature called the game early, Freshman Ruby Melis added to the Night Hawks huge lead at the 68' minute mark with an assist from Sasha Manders. Freshman Haleigh Joslin recorded the last goal of the game for Thomas, to mark their third consecutive shutout on the season.
The Night Hawks will be back in action this upcoming Wednesday against yet another NCAA opponent, Albany State University. Kickoff is set for 4pm at the TU Soccer Complex.
