THOMASVILLE, GA – The Thomas University Women's Soccer team has shown to be a powerful force on the pitch, after producing their fourth consecutive shutout win on the season against NCAA opponent Albany State University Wednesday afternoon for a solid 5-0 win. The win also marks the longest shutout streak in program history.
The Night Hawks (4-1, 0-0), started off the contest with an early goal by Sophomore Sasha Manders with an assist from Freshman Kaitlyn Herb in the 8' minute. The Golden Rams (0-3,0-0) could not find an equalizer for the Green and White, but eventually found their way into disturbing fouls equally on both sides of the pitch.
Sophomore Aquene Tollefson took her chances in the net after several minutes of strategic play were put into play as the Night Hawks stretched their lead in the 37' minute to put them up 2-0.
The Rams continued to struggle to find an answer for Thomas' as Sasha Manders took advantage of this miss opportunities by the Rams' keeper, as the Forward notched her second goal of the game with an assist from sophomore Ali Baca in the 42' minute.
Heading out of the half, Thomas did not back away from the challenge of finding any opportunity to find the back of the net as quickly as possible. Sasha Manders eventually picked up the difference maker in the 66' minute for her first hat trick of the season with an assist from Freshman Ruby Melis.
Freshman Pearl Mortimer in the 72' minute scored one final goal of the game with an assist from Sasha Manders to seal the deal on the Night Hawks fourth consecutive shutout win.
The Night Hawks will be back on the pitch this upcoming Saturday against non-conference opponent Ave Maria University. Kickoff is set for 12pm in Ave Maria, Fla.
