TALLADEGA, Ala – Thomas University Women's Soccer team continued their hot streak performance in Talladega, Alabama this past Thursday for a non-conference matchup against Talladega. The Night Hawks posted their second consecutive shutout on the season against the Tornadoes for a solid 6-0 win.
The Night Hawks (2-1-0, 0-0-0 SSAC) started off the game fairly hot with just a minute into the game with a goal by Freshman Pearl Mortimer with a friendly assist from Elsebeth Andersen. It did not take Mortimer long to continue to stretch the Green and White's lead as she posted her second goal of the game just a minute and a half later.
The Tornadoes (0-1-0, 0-0-0) could not find an answer to fire back with before heading into the half.
The Green and White used the halftime break to their advantage, as they came out to make a statement to close out the second half.
Freshman Kaitlyn Herb took an opportunity to continue the lead for the Night Hawks after her goal from a penalty kick to put TU up 3-0. Pearl Mortimer continued her scoring festivities at the 49' minute mark with a friendly assist from Sophomore Ali Baca.
Talladega continued to struggle with finding answers into the net, which eventually led to Thomas to be the driving force on the Pitch. Sophomore Madelyn Musgrove made her mark on the stat sheet with a goal at the 62' mark with an assist from Alicia Maclead.
Kaitlyn Herb did not hesitate to close out the game in the 69' minute mark with another goal of her own with an assist by Aquene Tollefson, as the Night Hawks went on to boast their second consecutive shutout win on the season.
The Night Hawks will be back in action next Friday for their home opener against Wesleyan College. Kickoff is set for 2pm.
