Thomas Splits Home Doubleheader with Webber. Night Hawks win game two with walk-off.

Rubber match is scheduled for 1pm Saturday (Senior Day).

The Thomas University Night Hawks (20-25, 5-12 SUN) split a home doubleheader with the Webber International Warriors (34-12, 9-8 SUN), losing the first game, 12-0, and winning the second game, 8-7, on a walk-off single.  The Night Hawks will play the rubber match on Saturday, beginning at 1 PM.  Saturday will also be Senior Day, as the Night Hawks will honor five seniors before the first pitch.  The Senior Day ceremony will begin at 12:45 PM.

Game One

Thomas was not able to get anything going offensively, grounding into a double play in three of the first four innings.  The Night Hawks also went down one-two-three, in another inning.  During the game, Thomas would only have two runners in scoring position.

Game Two

Thomas got off to a hot start, as their first three batters of the game reached base.  Cam Williams would drive in Matthew Delay Jr., and Josh Johnson to take a 2-0 lead after one inning.  Thomas would add one more run in the 3rd inning, when Delay reached on an error.  Delay would score when Williams reached on a fielder's choice.  The Night Hawks would give up four runs in the 4th inning, to trail 4-3, entering the bottom of the 4th inning.

Khadin Bastian would walk to lead off the bottom of the 4th inning.  Jean Pool Checo would triple Bastian home.  Brooks Rikeman would hit a homerun to left field.  Delay would add another single to his day, and score when Williams doubled to center field.  The Night Hawks would regain the lead 7-4.

Webber would inch away at the lead, scoring two runs in the 7th inning, and another run in the top of the 9th inning, to tie the score at 7-7.  Gabe Tafelski would step to the plate with one out and triple to right-center field.  After a brief mound visit by the Warriors head coach, it was decided to pitch to Delay, instead of walking him to set up the double play.  Delay delivered on a 0-2 pitch, driving the ball to right-center for the walk-off single to score Tafelski, and the Thomas victory.
