In the doubleheader versus future Southern States Athletic Conference opponent, Thomas scored early, and scored in bunches, as the Night Hawks put up a combined 20 runs against the Skyhawks of Point University.
Game One
Thomas opened up with three runs in the 1st inning, with three of their first four batters getting a hit. All three of those players would score:Â
Averie Shepard,
Holly Campbell, and
Addyson Mauldin, to give Thomas a 3-0 lead.
Thomas would score five more in the 2nd inning, with Campbell,
Adreanna Killingsworth,
Kennedy Hardy, and
Elizabeth Soto (2 RBIs) collecting RBIs during the inning, to increase the Thomas lead to 8-0.
The Night Hawks would plate three more runs in the 4th inning, all unearned, to increase the score to 11-0. The game would end after five innings due to the mercy rule.
Game Two
The Night Hawks would score. again, in the 1st inning. Shepard would break the ice on a Mauldin sacrifice fly to left field to give Thomas the 1-0 lead after one inning.
The 3rd inning saw
Emma Alley and
Kennedy Hardy hit back-to-back homeruns, with two out in the inning. Mauldin scored on the Alley homerun. Thomas held a 6-2 lead, after three innings completed.
Point would edge close in the 4th inning by scoring two runs, to cut the Thomas lead to one. Thomas would begin to pull away in the bottom of the 4th inning when Campbell doubled home Shepard, to increase the lead to 7-5. The Night Hawks would tack on two additional insurance runs in the 5th inning courtesy another RBI by Hardy to drive in
Leah Grant, and a double-steal, with
Faith Graben stealing 2nd base and Alley scoring on the throw.  Â
Notes
- 15 Night Hawks had at least one hit in the doubleheader.
- Kennedy Hardy collected five hits to lead both teams in that category, including a home run. She also had five RBIs.
- Averie Shepard reached base five times and stole three bases between the two games.
- Addyson Mauldin collected five RBIs on the day.
Thomas will have their final Sun Conference series, on the road, this weekend, as they travel to Warner University in Lake Wales, FL. Senior Day will be next Wednesday at Armory Field, with the first pitch scheduled for 2pm.
