WALESKA, Ga. – The Thomas University softball team defeated Reinhardt University, 3-1, in the first game, but fell, 11-9, in the second game of the double header on Saturday.

Thomas travels to Cochran, Ga., to face Middle Georgia State University next weekend, playing a double-header on Saturday, Feb. 25. First pitch is at 1 p.m.

Game One
Amber Griffin struck out seven and allowed just one run from three hits in seven innings, as the Night Hawks defeated Reinhardt, 3-1.

In the top of the third,
Hailie Stewart hit a leadoff double to left, then with two outs, scored as
Addyson Mauldin hit an RBI single to left field.
Â
The Night Hawks added two more runs in the fifth inning.
Holly Campbell hit a one-out single to left, then advanced on a base hit from Mauldin. The double steal set up a 2-RBI single to left by
Adreanna Killingsworth.

In the bottom of the seventh, Reinhardt attempted a comeback, scoring one run after a walk, stolen base, base hit and sac fly, but Griffin forced Reinhardt to ground out with one runner on base, to end the game.

Mauldin was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored for Thomas.

Megan Monk each recorded a stolen base.

Game Two
Thomas scored a pair of runs in the first inning, but the Eagles answered with 11 runs over the next three frames. TU put up three runs in the fifth and four in the sixth, but was unable to overcome the deficit, falling 11-9.

Holly Campbell tagged a trio of doubles,
Tiana Villagomez hit the team's second triple of the season and
Hailie Stewart connected on a two-run homer in the sixth.

Ava Nunez collected three RBI from a pair of base hits for the Night Hawks.

Pitcher
Leanne Lain started the game and took the loss after just 1.0 inning of work. She allowed seven runs from eight hits.
