THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University softball team split a pair of games with Middle Georgia State University on Wednesday, winning game one, 2-1 in eight innings, then falling, 4-3, in the second game.

The Night Hawks next travel to West Point, Ga., to face Point University in a double header on Friday.

Game One
Thomas collected eight hits in its 2-1 victory over MGSU.

After six scoreless innings, the Knights plated one unearned run on an RBI-single in the seventh. The Night Hawks answered with one run in the bottom of the frame as
Hailie Stewart doubled to center field, driving in
Sierra Tanner. MGSU left one runner on base in the top of the eighth, and Thomas took advantage, as pinch hitter
Kennedy Hardy drove in the game-winning run with an RBI single.

Stewart went 2-for-3 with a double and
Addyson Mauldin also connected on a double for the Knight Hawks.

Amber Griffin pitched a complete 8.0-inning game, facing 28 batters. Griffin struck out one, walked three and allowed one run, unearned, from five hits.

Game Two
After Middle Georgia State plated four runs in the top of the second inning, Thomas scored one in the third, and two in the fifth, but came up short, 4-3, in seven innings, despite MGSU making five fielding errors.

Averie Sheppard went 3-for-4 at the plate, and
Grace Hodges was 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored.
Addyson Mauldin connected on an RBI double.

Ava Nunez was tagged with the loss after allowing four runs from four hits in 1.1 innings.
Dale Elmore came in for 5.2 innings of relief, striking out one and holding the Knights scoreless.
