Night Hawks Take On Gyrenes

Ave Maria, FL - The Thomas University women's basketball team (2-9, 1-3) traveled to Ave Maria, Fl to take on the Gyrenes of Ave Maria University (5-3, 0-0) on Wednesday evening.

In the first quarter, Ave Maria would jump out to an early 18-0 lead. They would then control the rest of the quarter to lead the Night Hawks 25-6 after the first period of play. In the second, the Night Hawks would see a couple baskets fall, but the Gyrenes would also be able to score 21 points in the quarter. Thomas would find themselves down 46-17 at the break.


Scoring in the third quarter would be much more evenly matched as the Night Hawks would score 15, and Ave Maria would score 17. This quarter would provide the Night Hawks with the  momentum needed to produce 26 points in the fourth quarter. However, the Night Hawks would not be able to surpass the deficit built in the first half of play.  The contest would result in an Ave Maria win, 89-58. 


Sierra Bell would score 22 points and tally 2 blocks. Tara Llorente would record 9 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 1 block. Ryann Woodley recorded 11 points and 7 rebounds. Tieraney Bolton recorded 5 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks,  and 2 steals. 


NEXT UP: Thomas will get back into SSAC play on December, 16th to take on Point University at the TU Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 12:00 PM.
