Night Hawks Shutout the Knights

Cochran, Ga- The Thomas University Men's soccer team traveled to take on Middle Georgia State University (0-10-0, 0-6-0) in a conference matchup on Thursday.

Thomas (5-3-2, 2-2-1) would quickly let it be known that they were the more aggressive team. In the first period, Thomas would shoot twelve shots compared to the Knights' one. Thomas would also lead both teams in corner kicks with three. At the conclusion of the first half, both teams would head to the locker room tied 0-0. 

Seven minutes into the second half, Middle Georgia State would score on their own goal. This mistake would cost the Knights a goal and give the Night Hawks a 1-0 lead. With the lead, Thomas' defense would remain stellar for the rest of the game to shutout the Knights. In the second period, the Night Hawks would take four shots compared to Middle Georgia State's one. 

In total, Thomas tallied seventeen shots, with seven on goal, and four corner kicks. Middle Georgia would finish with two shots, neither on goal, and one corner kick. Thomas' Jorge Gonzalez would not need to record a save. The Knight's Joshua Kaandorp would record six saves.

Next Up: The Night Hawks will travel to Mount Vernon to take on Brewton-Parker College Saturday, October 7th. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00PM.
