Thomasville, GA | Both the Thomas Night Hawks Men and Women Swim team defeated the Ave Maria Gyrenes Satruday at the Butler-Mason YMCA in Thomasville. The Night Hawk Men won by a score of 178.0 to 71.0. The Night Hawks Women won by a score of 122.0 to 112.0.
The meet saw some individual Thomas swimmers achieve top national performances. The top 5 performances included
Anna Van De Keere in the 1650 yd. freestyle (18:31.14) and the 400 yd. individual medley, along with
Jofre Mataro in the 100 yd. backstroke (51.65) and the 400 yd. individual medley. For Mataro, this is his second top 5 performance in the 100 yd. backstroke.
Emil Schildhauer tallied two top 10 performances: one in the 100 yd. breaststroke (58.08) and in the 200 yd. breaststroke.
Ethan Kilgore's time in the 200 yd. freestyle (144.90) and
Tim Brown's time in the 50jyd. freestyle were good enough to be ranked within the top 15 nationally.
As a team, the Thomas Men are ranked 9th in NAIA. The Night Hawks will be back in action, this Saturday, as they travel to Douglas, GA to participate in the Birds of Prey meet, beginning at 1 p.m. South Georgia State College will be the meet host, and Life University will be the other participant in the meet.
