MACON, Ga. — The Thomas University women's soccer team cruised past the Wolves from Wesleyan College 8-0 to win the team's third straight contest.
The Night Hawks (3-1-1) capitalized on goals from five different players, routing the Wolves 8-0 on Monday afternoon.
The scoring began just inside the tenth minute when Analeice Wilkes netted an unassisted opening goal, 1-0. TU defender Jade Slaybaugh delivered a sweet cross moments later in the twelfth minute, finding Wilkes for her second of the game, 2-0.
The goal frenzy continued just moments later, as Wilkes and freshman forward Ali Baca scored another pair of goals, with Slaybaugh once again connecting with the senior star for a first half hat-trick, 4-0.
Thomas University went on to pile 20 shots in the first half, but the Wesleyan defense (0-3) held strong for the remainder of the period, taking the game to halftime, 4-0.
Unsatisfied with a 4-0 edge, TU's Delaney Hanneken joined the onslaught in the second half, scoring in her second-straight contest, netting her third goal of the season.
A lofted strike from freshman Aquene Tollefson scored Thomas' sixth goal in the 69th minute, before fellow freshman Ali Baca netted both her second goal of the season and game in the 72nd.
Thomas' final goal of the contest came down the stretch in the 83rd minute when Sophia Papas, Raelin Lescher and Hannah Keene all combined to score Keene's second goal of the season.
A dominant Night Hawk defensive performance limited the Wolves to just one corner in the contest, with Wesleyan failing to fire a single shot throughout the duration of the game.
TU goalkeepers Emily Lamoreaux and Olivia McIntyre split the contest, with Lamoreaux receiving the win and the start.
Wesleyan goalkeeper Angel Lockett delivered a valiant effort in the defeat, making 16 saves.
