THOMASVILLE, Ga. — The Thomas University men's soccer team cruised to a 3-0 home win over Brewton-Parker on Friday afternoon at the TU Soccer Complex.
With a feisty start with two cards in the first eleven minutes of action, the Night Hawks (1-1–1) broke through in 35th minute with a goal from Sam Greaves, his first of the season.
The Night Hawks had multiple opportunities in the first 45 with Cavan Daley leading the way in shots on goal, firing a pair of shots in the 24th and 42nd minute. Brewton-Parker's Charles Williams saved both attempts.
Minus the Greaves goal, it was a relatively quiet first half with neither team scoring again before the break. At the half, TU led 1-0.
In the second half, Thomas' scoring began in the 68th minute with a Cavan Daley goal followed by another offensive opportunity and conversion by Diego Sanchez in the 70th minute.
Daley's goal was assisted by Cameron Hawkins, while Sanchez' goal came off a perfect pass from fellow starter Connor Parry, 3-0.
Greaves' goal marked TU's first game this season in which the Night Hawks scored the opening goal. Friday's win also marked TU's first clean sheet of the 2022 season. All three Night Hawk scorers registered their first goals of the season, with the team handling the Barons with a lopsided 31-5 shot advantage.
In goal, Stephen Douglas accounted for a single save, while BPC goalkeeper Charles Williams kept the Barons in the game with 13 saves.
In the end, the overwhelming Night Hawk pressure was too much as TU cruised to a commanding 3-0 home opening win.
Up next, the Night Hawks will face Faulkner University back at the TU Soccer Complex on Tuesday, September 6th. Kickoff is set for 4 PM.
