Women's Soccer Opens Roadtrip with 2-2 Tie

MOBILE, Ala. – Thomas University and the University of Mobile battled to a draw Friday night in Mobile, Alabama. The match ended in a tie after a late TU team goal in the 78th minute knotted each team back at 2-2.

The Night Hawks (0-1-1) fired eleven shots in the contest, limiting the Lady Rams (0-1-1) to just nine.  Both teams sent five on frame.

TU struck first with a goal in the ninth minute, when Sasha Manders connected with fellow newcomer Elsebeth la Cour Andersen to open the game at 1-0.

The Lady Rams just captured the equalizing goal before halftime, when Carolina Martins Goma leveled the contest in the 43rd minute.

Second half action saw TU Goalkeeper Emily Lamoreaux pick up three saves, with two back to back saves in the 55th and 57th minute to keep the game tied at the 1-1 mark.

Mobile then scored first in the second half, but the lead didn't last, when an own goal from the Rams tied the game back at 2-2 just moments after UM claimed the lead.

After tying the game in the 78th, Thomas' offense generated late chances, but the Lady Rams defense held on to finish the game. This is the two team's second draw in three seasons as both teams continue to fight in what is proving to be a closely contested match year after year.
