THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University women's basketball team lost, 63-51, to Middle Georgia State University on New Year's Eve at the TU Gymnasium.

Thomas took a three-point lead at the end of the first quarter, then held a 27-20 edge going into the half, but Middle Georgia State outscored TU 43-24 in the second half to take the 63-51 victory.

Lenise Santiago knocked down a trio of 3-pointers and drained all six of her free throws to lead the team with 19 points. She also grabbed seven rebounds, dished out four assists, blocked a shot and swiped one steal.

Dejah Wilson ripped down 11 boards, and added eight points, three steals, a block and an assist.

Sierra Bell hit a pair of treys, marking her fourth straight game with multiple made 3-pointers.

TU forced Middle Georgia State into 17 turnovers and held the Knights to just 2-of-10 shooting from long range.

The Night Hawks fall to 1-12 for the first half of the season.

Thomas next faces three-straight Sun Conference opponents in Warner University (Jan. 5) in Thomasville, then a game Jan. 7 at Webber International in Babson Park, Fla., finishing with the Jan. 14 home matchup with College of Coastal Georgia.
