THOMASVILLE, GA- It was a very hard fought and competitive battle for the Thomas University Women's Soccer team Thursday morning against #1 Keiser University.
The Night Hawks (5-5-2, 2-2-1) tried to find their rhythm early in the first half but the SeaHawks came prepared as Keiser (13-0-1, 4-0-0) shot in the ninth minute that forced a save from Senior Keeper Emily Lamoreaux. The SeaHawks defense continued to hold strong throughout the first half, which forced Thomas to play smart and come up with a different strategy. Eventually the game continued to become a battle of shots with Keiser attempting two more but the Night Hawks defense held it together long enough to hold off to a scoreless game heading into halftime.
In the second half of the contest, the Green and White would make a strike with only 29 seconds into the second half to give the Night Hawks the slim 1-0 lead with a goal from Junior Aquene Tollefson assisted by Senior Analeice Wilkes and Jade Slaybaugh. Keiser eventually responded with a brillant 1-2 pass to tie the game with a shot past Lamoreaux. In the 78th minute the SeaHawks fired a corner into the box that the Night Hawks could not take advantage of to give the SeaHawks the biggest lead of the game.
Keiser continued to control the momentum of the game as Thomas could not find the equalizer to finish out the game as time continued to run out.
In total, The SeaHawks concluded the day with a total of seventeen shots with eleven on goal and a total of seven corner kicks. Keiser also finished with one save. The Night Hawks had a total of six shots with two on goal. The Green and White also had two corner kicks and nine saves.
WHAT'S NEXT: The Night Hawks will have just a day to rest before their next matchup against Ave Maria on Senior Day. Kick off is set for 3pm on Saturday.
