Sweet Victory: Thomas Stuns Royals

Sasha Manders notches first collegiate hat trick

LAKE WALES, FLA-  The Thomas University Women's Soccer team saw a sweet taste in victory for their SUN Conference play journey under the lights against the Royals of Warner University Thursday evening.

The Night Hawks (6-2-2, 1-0-1) did not hesitate to get on the board after settling in on the pitch in the 3rd minute with a goal by Freshman Sasha Manders from the top left corner from an assist by Senior Analeice Wilkes. The first half continued after the momentum built quickly for the Green and White as the Royals could not contain Manders as another goal by the Freshmen Forward in the 8th minute put Thomas up by two goals. Wilkes also notched her second assist of the night.

The Royals eventually found a sigh of relief after a penalty kick from Gabriela Vargas put Warner on the board before the half.

In the second half, Warner University (3-3-3, 0-1-0) could not handle the pressure from Thomas offense as Sasha Manders capitalized off a unique mistake from the Royals keeper to notch her first collegiate hat trick.

In total, The Royals concluded the night with a total of four shots with just two on goal with just one corner kick. The Blue and Gold had six saves. Thomas University was able to dominate shots on goal (9) and had just one save. The Night Hawks also finished the night with 2 corner kicks.

WHAT'S NEXT:  The Night Hawks will have just a day to rest before their next matchup against Webber International on October 15th. Kick off is set for 11am.
