Night Hawks Claw Falcons

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University Women's soccer team had a dominant performance Saturday afternoon, defeating the Florida College Falcons 6-0 at TU Soccer Complex.

The Night Hawks (5-3) improved from Wednesday, outshooting FC 27-4 with a team 66.7% shots on goal percentage.  Junior Jana Pastorek recorded her second hat-trick this month, this time tallying all scores in the first half.  Midfielder Payton Walton continued to have a productive season, adding three more assists to her overall junior campaign.

Sophomore Goalkeeper Emily Lamoreaux notched her sixth career shutout Saturday, making three saves.

It took the Night Hawks within eight minutes to find the contest's first goal, as Junior Analeice Wilkes and Graduate Taylor Hults set up the play that allowed Pastorek to bury the shot in the back of the net after the initial shot by Wilkes was deflected off of Falcons' goalkeeper Victoria Fullagar.  Two minutes later, Pastorek added to her slate, capitalizing off a through ball from Walton for a 2-0 TU lead.

A memorable goal was made in the early 24th minute, as Junior Abbie McCammon was on the back end of Walton's corner kick that gave the Florida Panhandle native her first NAIA goal and a three-goal lead for Thomas.  Another first was made in the 37th minute when Freshman Thórsteina Ȧrnadóttir recorded a second assist after winning a possession that led to Pastorek's third goal of the contest and a 4-0 lead heading into halftime.

In the 62nd minute, Walton set up another successful through-ball pass that landed off the boot of Wilkes, who scored her second goal of the week to bring the score to 5-0.  The Night Hawks would ice the contest with another first, this time from Sophomore Jade Slaybaugh, who buried a shot top shelf to secure the 6-0 win for the Green & White.
