THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University Women's soccer team bounced back Friday afternoon, defeating the University of Mobile 3-1 at TU Soccer Complex.
The win marks the first time the Night Hawks (3-2) have defeated the Rams (0-6-1) since the team's initial overall series match in 2013, as well as the first time the Green & White have achieved victory over UM in the Rose City.
Thomas shot well in the contest, putting seven of 12 total shots on goal. Junior
Analeice Wilkes recorded a goal and an assist while Junior
Payton Walton tallied two assists. Sophomore Goalkeeper
Emily Lamoreaux made four saves, facing 13 total shots.
The Night Hawks wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as Wilkes recorded her second goal of the season in a 1v1 thru ball set up by Walton in the tenth minute for a 1-0 Night Hawks lead. Junior
Jana Pastorek would follow up with a score just a minute later, as the German slotted the shot lower left corner off a TU second-chance effort.
A two-goal lead appeared to be a comfortable one for Thomas until an Agnes Back goal from the University of Mobile got the Rams back in the contest in the 63rd minute, thanks to a corner kick set piece from Rachel Salyn to make the contest 2-1. For Thomas, the team found a way to make up for the opposition's goal, as Senior
Matti Campbell capitalized off a dummy setup from Senior
Emily Linscer and a pass from Walton to bring the scoring difference back up to two goals (3-1).
