THOMASVILLE, Ga. — The Thomas University Men's soccer team hits the road again this week, traveling north to face off against the University of Tennessee Southern Thursday, September 16th and Saturday September, 18th, against Cumberland University.

Entering Thursday's contest, Thomas' three game win streak to start the season is the team's longest mark since 2015, when, in that season, the Night Hawks started 5-0.

Last week's hard fought battle resulted in an exciting 2-1 home-opening win over Middle Georgia State. Goals from freshman James Hall and Senior Cavan Daley were just enough to survive the closely contested match. Freshman Regan McLaren and Diego Sanchez tallied assists in the contest.

The University of Tennessee Southern enter Thursday's contest 1-3, after disappointing losses to Dalton State, Lawrence Tech and, most recently, a heartbreaker against Missouri Baptist University.

In that match against Missouri Baptist, the Firehawks fought back scoring three unanswered goals, before allowing a late goal in the 81st minute to tie the match at four apiece. In overtime, MBU scored the golden goal in the 94th minute to win 5-4.

Thomas' trip to Pulaski, Tennessee to compete against the Firehawks will be the first matchup against UTS since 2014, in which, Thomas prevailed 3-1.

The TU Men's Soccer team will continue their trip north through the capital of country music to Lebanon, TN, to kickoff against Cumberland University at the Lindsey Donnell Stadium-Kirk Field.

Cumberland University will be the toughest opponent to date for the Night Hawks, as the Phoenix provided an impression showing on Saturday, September 11th forcing double overtime against #14 Georgia Gwinnett College.

In that contest, the Phoenix played the majority of the match up a man after GGC forward Gianmaria Fiore was ejected due to a double yellow in the 26th minute. The man-up advantage resulted in Cumberland dominating the match offensively firing 22 total shots total with ten ending on frame. Despite the offensive onslaught, both teams were knotted at two a piece after 90 minutes.

Eventually, in the 103rd minute, the Phoenix defense collapsed allowing the Grizzlies to pull off the improbable feat, winning 3-2.

Thursday's kickoff is slated for 6 p.m., while Saturday's contest is set to kickoff at 4 p.m. Fans can access this weekend's contests by clicking on the respective links below.
