THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University Women's soccer team played with an intense focus Saturday night, as the Night Hawks defeated Point University 2-0 at Remington Park for its fourth win of the season.
TU (4-3) limited the Skyhawks' possessions, allowing just two shots all game, while the Hunter Green & White's attack was in full force with a plethora of chances that included 16 shots.
It did not take the Night Hawks too long to find the find the back of the net, as a cross from Sophomore
Analeice Wilkes was deflected by a Point defender and onto the boot of Sophomore
Jana Pastorek who scored her third goal of the season to give TU a 1-0 lead.
Moments later, the Skyhawks had a chance to tie the contest early as PU's Keiry Bonilla split two defenders before Freshman Goalkeeper
Emily Lamoreaux denied a Bonilla shot on goal. The West Point, Ga. based team would not see another shot for the rest of the half.
Thomas would score once more just minutes before intermission, as Sophomore
Kylie Lawson redirected a throw-in from Sophomore
Payton Walton via header to Junior
Jonna Wittwer for a backwards kick that went over PU Keeper Erica Burkhardt and in the net to extend the Night Hawks' lead to 2-0.
TU protected its lead in the second half, allowing one shot from the opposition. Point's offense was shut down thanks to a few key tackles from the defense.
