HATTIESBURG, Ms. – The Thomas University Women's soccer team faced the full effect of the NAIA's top-ranked team once again, as the Night Hawks fell to #1 William Carey 5-0 Thursday night at Crusader Field.
Thomas (4-4) registered a total of five shots in the match, with a team 80% Shots on Goal percentage. WCU had 26 shots, tying the season-high allowed by the Hunter Green & White in Spring 2021. Starting Keeper
Emily Lamoreaux recorded seven saves in 22 shots faced.
The Night Hawks kept the Crusaders (9-0-1, 2-0 SSAC) at bay until the 24th minute, in which an over-the-head backwards shot by Marina Sonet gave William Carey the 1-0 lead. WCU would extend its lead with just over 12 minutes remaining in the half to head into intermission with a 2-0 lead.
The Crusaders would unleash its fury to begin the second half, scoring three goals in the first seven minutes to put the match away (5-0).
Sophomore Goalkeeper
Jordin Sanchez saw some time in the match, checking in during the 70th minute. The Palm Bay, Fla. native recorded three saves in four shots faced.
