WSOC Draws with Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. – Even extra time could not decide a winner between the Thomas University Women's soccer team and the University of Mobile, as the match ended in a 2-2 tie Saturday afternoon at The Jungle.

The Night Hawks (4-4-1) saw 18 shots in regulation, but the Lady Rams (2-7-1) limited to TU to one shot in extra time.  Mobile garnered a total of 17 shots.

UM struck first with the goal in the eighth minute, as the Night Hawks trailed for most of the first half.  TU captured the equalizing goal in the 45th minute as a Taylor Hults free kick deep into the Lady Rams' third of the pitch landed on the boot of Junior Emily Linscer who set up a pass to Sophomore Jana Pastorek for the finishing shot to the lower right corner to tie the game 1-1.

The even score would not last long, as Thomas would take the lead 49 seconds into the second half with a brilliant finish from Redshirt Sophomore Jade Guyton off a header pass from Sophomore Ayla Aiduck.

A shot from Mobile's Cassidy Arcement had an unlucky bounce off the gloves of Freshman Goalkeeper Emily Lamoreaux that found its way into the net to tie the contest 2-2 in the 59th minute.

In both overtime periods, Mobile outshot the Night Hawks 5-1, but Thomas' defense fended off late chances by the Lady Rams to finish with the team's first draw since October 2019.  The tie snaps an eight-year win streak held by UM in the two teams' overall series.
