RV WSOC Flawless Against Faulkner

Angelo Pontello | Sports Information Director | @apontello44

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The RV Thomas University Women's soccer team secured a winning season for the second time in three years Saturday afternoon, as the Night Hawks defeated the Faulkner Eagles 5-0 at TU Soccer Complex on Senior Day for the team's sixth win of the Spring 2021 season.

Thomas (6-5-1) outshot FLK 19-6 and made textbook plays that resulted in a wide-margin score line.  Freshman Emily Lamoreaux and Sophomore Jordin Sanchez both saw time in net, combining for four saves on the day.

It did not take long for the Hunter Green & White's attack to take effect, scoring on the team's second shot of the day by Sophomore Jade Guyton to take a quick 1-0 lead in the ninth minute.

TU would extend its lead 2-0 in the 27th minute, as a pass from Junior Jonna Wittwer set up the finishing touch made by Sophomore Ayla Aiduck, scoring top shelf for the Orlando, Fla. native's seventh goal of the season.

The final goal of the first half was made in the 39th minute when Aiduck returned the favor for Wittwer, dispossessing a Faulkner defender to set a cross pass to the Hamburg, Germany native for the score, heading into intermission with a commanding 3-0 lead.

The Eagles began its comeback attempt right out of halftime, taking back-to-back corner kicks in the 50th minute that were both defended well by TU.  Even with the comfortable lead and the match at hand, the scoring chances did not stop for Thomas, as the Night Hawks took 11 shots in the second half.

Senior Day became even more memorable in the 80th minute, as Senior Defender Taylor Hults iced the contest with a goal from a textbook cross by Sophomore Hadas Prawer to bring Thomas' lead to 4-0.  Moments later, Prawer recorded her second assist of the match when the Mevaseret Zion, Israel native found an open Wittwer who buried the shot in the top left corner to seal a 5-0 win for the Night Hawks.
