LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Thomas University Men's soccer team overcame an early deficit to defeat Warner University 2-1 Wednesday evening at Royals Soccer Field.
The Night Hawks (2-3) outshot the Royals (3-12-1, 1-7-1 TSC) nine to seven in a contest that saw limited chances throughout. Sophomore Keeper
Josh Ricord recorded four saves in five shots faced on goal.
After Warner scored a go-ahead goal in the 17th minute, the Hunter Green & White began to put the pressure on the Royals' defense, featuring two quick shots from Senior
Samir Lopez and Sophomore
Khafri Jamison.
The pressure paid off, as Jamison made a brilliant move around WU's McKendree that led to the equalizing goal by Junior
Diego Azar from Senior
Salvador Marin in the 33rd minute of play. The goal was Azar's first of the season.
The second half saw limited shots, with each team registering three apiece. TU would find the game-winning goal in the 69th minute, as a redirected header by a Warner defender landed in Jamison's possession, heading a pass to Senior
Jason Piurowski who fired a low shot to the right corner past WU's goalkeeper for the go-ahead lead 2-1.
