Thomas Ties Florida College

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – In a match that featured dangerous chances from both sides, 110 minutes of soccer could not determine a victor Saturday afternoon at TU Soccer Complex, as the Thomas University Men's soccer team drew with Florida College 2-2.

TU (2-3-1) outshot the Falcons (5-8-1, 0-5 SSAC) 18-10, including nine that were on target.  Sophomore Keeper Josh Ricord had three saves in the contest.

The Night Hawks wasted no time finding a way to get on the scoreboard, as Senior Salvador Marin scored off a corner from Junior Diego Azar in the third minute.  The goal marked the first time this season the Hunter Green & White struck first in a match.

Florida College would tie the match with a little over six minutes remaining in the first half after the Falcons' Camilo Arango set a crosser to Gabriel Aguilera Jr. for a redirected header.

The match would not remain 1-1 for long, as Azar and Sophomore Khafri Jamison set up Marin for the Santa Tecla, El Salvador native's second goal of the match in the 45th minute, giving the Night Hawks a go-ahead 2-1 lead heading to the locker room at intermission.

TU saw reduced chances in the second half, as FC limited the Night Hawks to only four shots in the specific period.  Thomas was unlucky in the 69th minute, as a foul in the keeper's box set up a penalty kick for Krist Berisha.  The Falcons' captain delivered, tying the match 2-2.

Minutes later, the Hunter Green & White had a brilliant chance for another go-ahead goal as Jamison set up a pass to Freshman Giacomo Bacigalupo, but the Italian native's header was an unlucky one, sailing a few inches above the crossbar.

In extra time, all four of Thomas' shots were dangerous chances for potential golden goals, but the Night Hawks found themselves unlucky once again, as both header shots and one regular shot went high, while Freshman Hudson Cougill's shot was saved by FC Keeper Anton Richard.
