THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Thomas University Men's soccer team will be on the road for the first time this season, as the Night Hawks travel to Lyons, Ga. Thursday to take on the Knights of Middle Georgia State, followed by a Saturday afternoon fixture in Mount Vernon, Ga. to face Brewton-Parker College.
The Hunter Green & White (0-3) made progress in its last outing at the pitch, scoring its first goal of the season from a finishing touch by Junior
Alex Pugh. Despite playing three quality opponents to start the season, including one in the Top 15, the Night Hawks average just over five shots a match, with two shots on goal. Senior
Mateo Arbelaez leads the team in shots with five total.
Freshman Keeper
Miha Kristovic has faced twice as many shots as the Night Hawks have taken, but has managed to keep a GAA to under three goals a game in addition to ten saves on the season.
MGA (1-2. 1-0 SSAC) is fresh off a golden-goal win over Brewton-Parker (4-3). The Knights are led by Callum Bryan with three goals off eight shots. As a whole, Middle Georgia averages 11 shots a game. Goalkeeper James Price has struggled as of late, giving up five goals in the last nine shots faced.
BPC (4-2, 0-1 SSAC) will face the Falcons of Florida College Thursday before hosting the Night Hawks. The Barons love to take shots, as the team averages 26.5 shots a game, however all but two institutions Brewton-Parker has faced this season were not NAIA schools. BPC's Goalkeeper unit has averaged 1.5 allowed goals a game with 24 saves.
Kickoff against Middle Georgia is set for 7:30 p.m., while Brewton-Parker's fixture is slated for 3:30 p.m. Fans can access the match live by following the links below:
