Faulkner Eagles Soar Past Night Hawks 88-37

THOMASVILLE, GA — The Thomas University women's basketball team lost its second contest of the annual Faulkner Classic Saturday afternoon 37-88.

The offensive woes from Friday's contest continued into Saturday's matchup against Faulkner, as the hosting Eagles jumped out to an early 27-6 lead in the first quarter. The team continued to build upon the lead in the second, as TU was unable to find any consistency on the offensive end, missing both contested and uncontested looks at the basket. After 20 minutes of action, the Eagles took a convincing 48-14 lead into the half.

The Night Hawks had their best quarter of play in the third, as the Night Hawks scored 14 points thanks to dynamic cuts and solid free throw shooting.

Fourth Quarter play found both teams struggle from the field, as the Night Hawks defense limited the Eagles to 14 points, but failed to score the ball efficiently registering eight total points in the final period of action.

The Night Hawks shot under 40% from the field on Saturday, shooting less than than 10% from three-point range allowing the Eagles to control the game offensively scoring more than 20 points in three of the four quarters. Junior Amayla Sharif led the way offensively, scoring 12 points in her limited 23 minutes of action.

Overall, the team picked up eight steals and three blocks, but, ultimately, the Night Hawks failed to make an impact against a solid Eagles group that saw three players reach the double-digit mark.

Up next, the Night Hawks travel to Kennesaw State University Tuesday, November 9th for an exhibition contest with tipoff scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
