THOMASVILLE, GA — The Thomas University men's soccer team is once again on the road Wednesday, traveling to Babson Park, Fla. to compete in a SUN Conference matchup against Webber International University.
The Night Hawks (4-3-1, 0-1-1 SUN) come off a disappointing 2-1 loss to Ave Maria Saturday as the Night Hawks struggled to find the back of the net, despite creating 16 shots in the contest. The lone Thomas goal in the match came in the tenth minute, as Junior Joao Pedro Vinha tallied his second goal of the season.
Senior goalkeeper Josh Ricord picked up five saves in the contest, but the two goals fir Ave Maria proved to be too much as the Gyrenes picked up their first ever victory against TU.
The RV Warriors from Webber International currently sit at 6-2-2 on the season (0-1-2 SUN) Impressive showings early in the season turned some heads as the Warriors got listed on the September 28th NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll. Since the Poll, Webber narrowly lost to RV Southeastern before tying Warner last weekend in SUN Conference play.
In the team's last contest, Webber tied the regional rival Warner University 1-1 in a double overtime defensive showdown. So far this season, the Warrior backline has been sensational only allowing eight goals, while the offense has piled on the pressure tallying 35 goals. Junior Jesus Chillon and Sophomore Jay Skelcher-Maxwell lead the Warrior attack both with five goals.
Senior goalkeeper Alex Marciulonis has been a force in the net, impressively racking up a .810 save percentage while allowing less than one goal per contest.
Kickoff at Warrior Grass Field is set for 11 AM.
