#24 Bobcats Take Down Night Hawks

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – After a brilliant win over Florida Memorial Thursday, the Thomas University Women's soccer team was provided a reality check Saturday afternoon, as the #24 St. Thomas Bobcats bested the Night Hawks 3-0 at TU Soccer Complex.

Overall, St. Thomas (8-3-2, 3-2-1 SUN) had a sizable shot chance over the Night Hawks (6-7, 1-4 SUN), outshooting Thomas 20-5, including a 13-1 shot difference at intermission.  Sophomore Goalkeeper Trinity Chastain faced 12 shots on goal, matching a season-high nine saves.

"Trinity brought a lot of composure today and really calmed the game down when it needed to be…" said Head Coach Julie Orlowski.  "…she only had to make two tough saves (today), so she's where she needs to be and she's making good decisions."

STU recorded the first score in the 13th minute, as Angelica De Don sliced a pass to Miranda Ferradaz capitalized by firing towards top shelf.

Trailing 1-0, Thomas kept the Navy & Burgundy in check for nearly the rest of the first half, as Chastain's play produced some key saves that kept the contest to a one-score difference.  The Bobcats would not finish the first half without another score, however, as Megan Velasquez broke free after receiving the pass from Sarolta Oppelland and found another STU score with 17 seconds remaining in the first half to extend the lead 2-0.

St. Thomas would finish the day scoring its last goal in the 56th minute as a through ball pass from Katharina Jullich allowed Karina Medina to log a score and give the Bobcats a 3-0 win.

"There were a lot of good things we did in the midfield third and defensive third and we just could not capitalize on them in the final third," said Orlowski after the game.  "I think we made things a little too easy on their backs (backline) to cut out some passes.  It's good to see the midfield third working well and connecting really well; we just didn't get anything in the final third like we have hoped."
